he mission of PurdyBoyKennels is to provide our clients with English Setter puppies bred for the field and well suited for the home. We cater to the upland hunting and wingshooting enthusiast. Our proximity to Orvis Endorsed Tumbling Creek Lodge provides us with bird rich training grounds and allows us to start puppies off in a hunting environment. The PurdyBoy breeding program focuses on basic inherited traits all fine gun dogs poses- style, conformation, drive, with innate bird finding ability- and a willingness to please. These unique traits are sought out and passed down through generations of selective breeding.
Our breeding program has a limited number of scheduled litters each year. Only the highest scoring females on our grading scale will be scheduled for a litter. We breed our females to the best studs available depending on what goals we are trying to achieve. This strict breeding and grading scale insures that our clients will have their pick of the best English Setters available today. This is one of the many reasons why we claim that “our gun dog specific program, allows us to provide a well rounded, confident pup- Your Satisfaction is Guaranteed!!!”
The PurdyBoyKennel staff take a proactive hands on approach in the socialization of each pup. Our puppies are introduced to a wide variety of environments at an early age to help them with their confidence as they grow. One of the biggest parts of our socialization program is the interaction between new owners and their puppy. We include our clients in the beginning and recommend that they help us in the initial stages of the young pup’s development. We understand that most of our dogs will not only be a big part of your hunting, but also play a key role as a member of the family.
Once we feel that individual puppies are ready to go home you can expect further information from us on how to continue the socialization process. We will also send instructions on how to get your little hunter started off on the right foot when it comes to health and training. A helpful do’s and dont’s list will go home with you that should be read and followed to the best of your ability.
Our puppies are born at various times of the year. Please contact us for information regarding any upcoming litters or available puppies. We have a first come first serve policy, and you can expect to be put on a Pick of the Litter waiting list. This means that you will be placed in order of your contacting us for your pick. Your position is also dictated by the sex, color, or specific pedigree you may be interested in. All of our puppies are registered with American Field, an association specific to working dogs and gun dogs in particular.
Breeding Program- Started & Finished Gun Dogs
PurdyBoyKennels’ primary focus is on the raising of English Setter puppies; however we always have dogs available for our clients. Our available dogs will range from started to finished in their training. If you are interested in a hunting partner that has already been started on a training table, or want to impress your buddies with a finished gun dog we have the hunting partner you are looking for. Please note that if you are interested in started or finished dogs they are available for showing by appointment only. Please contact us to set up an appointment!
